'Stop the clocks, cut off the telephone'

Here is my final outcome for my recent painting and drawing unit, we had to produce an outcome in response to a poem. The poem I chose is 'Stop the clocks, cut off the telephone' by W.H.Auden. This poem is from the point of view of a widow and how she sees no point in the world anymore. I tried to capture this feeling by having everything streaming into grey and make her out of feathers that are blowing away in the wind to show how shes slowly falling apart.

Childhood

This is for letter C of my A-Z book project. I chose childhood because that's the time of our lives that shapes how we are in the future. I intended to make it with an equal balance between happy, sad, scary, etc and the emotion in the picture is to be determined by the viewers opinion on childhood. I produced this using a photo that I developed from a negative but by painting the developer on it made some interesting marks which I used to make the things surrounding the child, I then took that into photoshop added some filters to it and then drew on the girl with the ballon.

A-Z project

These are three examples of work from my Graphics unit last year. The project was to produce an alphabetic book about myself, using a wide range of styles and techniques.
This is the first page in the book, I decided to do a title page as it introduces the reader to me before the book begins. The self portrait was made from pen and fine writers. I chose to make the background more quirky, busy and colourful because people say those three words describe me well.
(Both images below were produced using a Photoshop tablet)
For this page (letter B in the book) I chose Boris Johnson as he's a demonstration that not everyone has to be exceedingly dull to be a politician. I tried to capture his personality by drawing him from an image whilst also communicating the British politician side as well, I did this by making the use of lines more loose and less specific and having the flag appear to be moving behind him to create a more energetic feel.
For letter 'S' I chose to do supernatural because supernatural ideas/ themes are inspiring to me because I find the weird things a lot more appealing as you can produce a completely knew idea for people to play around with, I also find the supernatural great as an inspiration for music as well as the visual outcomes.
